April 12, 2011: black Tuesday for journalism with the closure of two headers , Tribuna de Salamanca and El Day of Ciudad Real.
Prisa Group has announced a savage cut in staff of media. From El Correo de Andalucía workers we send our support to reverse these plans which would damage seriously the right to quality information, without addressing the real problem of media companies, which is not on journalists but on the management model.
The job cuts so far have been numerous, and are advertised in most media companies. Sevilla will be no exception, so that the works council of El Correo de Andalucía reminds all journalists together the need to defend our rights as workers.
For them, we invite Seville society and especially to workers in the media to attend a few demonstrations may be held in defense of jobs in one of the hardest hit sectors occupationally by the crisis.
